Christmas shoppers invited to have fun and give back at the 32nd American Association of Malaysia’s Annual Christmas Charity Bazaar

13 October 2018, Kuala Lumpur – The American Association of Malaysia (AAM) presents its 32nd Annual Christmas Charity Bazaar on November 2nd, 2018 from 10:00am to 5:00pm at the Renaissance Hotel Kuala Lumpur in aid of 15 local charities in Malaysia.

As one of the first Christmas Bazaars in KL to kick off the festive season cheer, 130 vendors and charity organisations are gearing up to provide shoppers with a full day of amazing shopping variety, freshly baked goods, raffle prize draws and a truly special Christmas Tree of Giving!

“We hope to attract the office crowd from the golden triangle in KL, during their lunch break o Friday. Corporate companies can assist in our fundraising quest by encouraging their employees to come shopping with us, have fun and give back at the same time!”, said Jill Nanne President of the American Association of Malaysia. Shoppers will have the opportunity to shop for fun and unique holiday gifts, supporting a large number of wonderful local charities who will be on site selling their handicrafts, as well as a myriad of small business vendors showcasing wares from all around the world.

A signature event by the AAM and one of the most important events on the association’s calendar, where net proceeds from funds raised from the one-day bazaar will be donated to AAM’s 2018 charities in line with the AAM’s objective to provide education for stateless and refugee women and children living in Malaysia. “One of my greatest joys in Malaysia is to have the honour to present well-deserved funds to the community’s most deserving charity organizations. The gratitude of these women and children makes the Christmas Bazaar a critical component of AAM’s mission,” said Donna Lamb, First Vice-President of the AAM.

Audrey Perriolat, Volunteer Coordinator at Tanma Federation, Federating refugee women fairtrade projects said, “Tanma Federation is very grateful to the American Association of Malaysia. Thanks to the donation Tanma was allowed to invest women last year. Through trainings (like English, accountancy training, Etc.) and workshops (like sewing workshop), we developed new skills and work on the women empowerment. We would like to thank you warmly for your particularly generous donation without which we wouldn’t be able to continue our work because your donation is representing 1/3 of our annual budget. Once again thank you so much for your support” said Audrey Perriolat, Volunteer Coordinator in a letter written to the AAM from Tanma Federation, one of the 15 local charities the AAM supports.

In 2016, the AAM presented its charities with more than MYR 160,000 while in 2017, that amount increased to RM250,000. Each year, member volunteers comprising of the American community living in Malaysia spend time and effort to making our Charity events a success. As such, it relies on media outlets, its website and social media channels and word-of-mouth to reach the community of expatriates living in Malaysia who seek a dose of the Christmas mood from home, as well as the Malaysian general public who can have the opportunity to experience a unique day of having fun while giving back!

The event is supported by long-time sponsor Crown Relocations and supported by Prince Court Hospital and The Bowery Group. Corporate sponsors are welcomed, and inquiries may be sent via email to the AAM Sponsorship Director. Entry tickets to the bazaar are now on sale, and costs RM30 per person.
