SINGAPORE – 9 July 2025 – Playground Film Sdn Bhd is proud to announce the highly anticipated cinematic release of “MENCARI RAMLEE” in Singapore cinemas starting 10 July 2025. The film embarks on a profound journey to rediscover and celebrate the unparalleled genius of the late Tan Sri P. Ramlee, whose artistic contributions continue to resonate deeply across Malaysia, Singapore, and beyond.
“MENCARI RAMLEE” is more than just a film; it’s an immersive exploration into the life, works, and enduring cultural impact of Southeast Asia’s most revered entertainer who was born in Penang but spent many productive years in Singapore at the Shaw Studios’ Malay Film Productions Ltd.
Through a captivating narrative, the film delves into the layers of P. Ramlee’s artistry as a singer, songwriter, actor, and director, seeking to uncover new perspectives and untold stories that shaped his legendary status. It aims to bridge generations, inviting both long-time admirers and new audiences to connect with his timeless legacy.

Recreating the high life of the swinging seventies in flamboyant detail, Finding Ramlee takes many shapes, from a zany farce to a tender romantic comedy and finally, to a bittersweet drama about lovable misfits finding solace in one another, wrote Srikanth Srinivasan of the International Film Festival of Rotterdam, where the film had its world premiere early in the year.
