#Move8 Walkathon Hunt series to boost inner-city tourism while making exercise fun!

Fitness startup Asia Fitness Today reveals #Move8 Walkathon Hunt designed for tourists and locals to discover Kuala Lumpur’s inner-city treasures along the KL Car Free Morning route

Kuala Lumpur, 25 November 2018 – Asia Fitness Today, a fitness, sport and wellness activation platform announces its latest fitness campaign; the #Move8 Walkathon Hunt today in a bid to get more Malaysians active.

The general public are invited to join in the fun with FREE participation offered to the first 100 who sign up using the promo code: move8trial.

#Move8 Walkathon Hunt is a quarterly series of events that encourages participants to learn more about their capital city by introducing a treasure hunt element. The first series kicks off on Sunday, 2 December 2018 flagging off at 7.00am from Dataran DBKL in conjunction with KL Car Free Morning.

Participants can choose between the 3KM, 5KM and 7KM route and are given clues in which they’ll treasure hunt is made easy for participants with the number of questions corresponding to their chosen route. Hence, the 3KM route will have three questions; 5KM will have five and so on. The 3KM route questions will also be featured questions on the other routes.

Although one can enter the #Move8 Walkathon Treasure Hunt on their own, it may be advisable to join in a group of four to enhance the experience.

#Move8 is a drive to encourage people of all ages to get moving and using a walkathon to achieve this objective; everyone and anyone across all ages can participate. The treasure hunt element is introduced this time round to give our participants a purpose and making walking fun at the same time,” says AsiaFitnessToday co-founders Jasmine Low and Nikki Yeo.

#Move8 is a fitness movement conceptualised by AsiaFitnessToday.com (AFT) – a fitness start-up by Experiential Events & Marketing Communications Agency, Go International Group Dotcom Sdn Bhd. Its co-founders recently graduated from the Cradle Malaysia Coach & Grow Programme Cohort 4.

“We welcome people from all ages at the #Move8 Walkathon Hunt and we have designed a treasure hunt element to encourage Malaysians to fall in love with Kuala Lumpur city again by observing inner city surroundings on foot as we usually take for granted whilst riding in a vehicle,” adds Low.

The questions for the treasure hunt may be as easy as it seems but it will encourage participants to “put their heads together” to answer the questions.

The #Move8 Walkathon Hunt will be taken across the country in 2019 with destinations including Penang, Langkawi Island (State of Kedah), Cameron Highlands (State of Pahang) and Kundasang (State of Sabah). There are also plans to expand the walkathon into the ASEAN region. International and domestic travellers are also encouraged to join and explore each of the #Move8 Walkathon’s locations as it is also a Visit Malaysia tourism drive. Each of the walkathon in the series will also hold a different theme in accordance to location. Participants who successfully complete the entire walkathon series will receive a special prize to mark their achievement by Malaysia Day in 2020.

Participation fees are normally RM100 for all participants, senior citizens receive a special fee of RM60 with the promo code “move8gold”, whilst corporate groups pay only RM80 with the promo code “move8” and they will receive a commemorative 999 silver coin medal, a Malaysian breakfast, a goodie bag as well as an entry to a lucky draw. From the fees, 10% will be donated to MERCY Malaysia, a non-profit organisation that provides humanitarian and medical assistance in Malaysia and overseas. KL Car Free Morning is held from 7am to 9am every first and third Sunday of the month and features closed roads for people of all walks of life to cycle, handcycle, run, skateboard, rollerskate, rollerblade or simply walk. It starts from Dataran DBKL (near Dataran Merdeka) and leads participants through about 7 kilometres of major streets in Kuala Lumpur’s Golden Triangle. Each time, title sponsor OCBC Bank offers 140 bicycles for the people to use for free. The event, first introduced on 22 September 2013, is organised by Multigreen Events and supported by Kuala Lumpur City Hall. Several thousand people throng to the event each time, testimony to the growing health-consciousness among Malaysians and their appreciation of KL Car Free Morning.
